The suffix -ette does have a meaning. It can mean little or small as in kitchenette, Annette or female as in bachelorette.

Hm, I think -ette is more of an diminutive, effectively meaning "little, small", but not actually meaning that.

If that makes sense.

lol, originally I typed that it's a diminutive suffix but decided it'd be easier just to say little or small:)
