Meaning of the feminine name Edila.
Hello everyone,
Does anyone have a clue as to what the meaning might be of the feminine name Edila? I just came across it and it seems it is used predominantly in Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries - perhaps it is a variant spelling of Odila?
Thank you in advance for your input,
Lucille :o)

I never came across an Edila (or an Odila for that matter, but plenty of Otílias/Odílias), but Edília looks more plausible to me. It could be a variation of Odília, or it could be inspired by the word 'idílio' (a short poem with countryside themes).
Sorry I can't be of much help here.
