This is off topic, I know and I'm sorry, but you just can't search for words you can't spell online. Plus, you guys are the smartest people I know.
I am watching a show, which is supposed to be fairly historically accurate, and they mentioned there is a small Asian country pronounced [Jawg-er-AW-tah]. The year is supposed to be 1878 I believe, and the show is based in Japan.

The only thing that comes to my mind is Jakarta, capital of Indonesia...? Maybe you can find it by googling the show you mentioned and search in the content description?

Yep, it is Jakarta. The Prince was Prince Sheen of the Jakarta republic. Whenever they said where he was from if deffinately sounded like there were 2 extra syllables, eg. 'Jah-kawrt-awr-ah-tah'. Perhaps they carried on the Japanese pronounciation into the english version, or maybe that's how Jakarta was pronounced in the late 1800s in english or japanese. Thanks a bunch!
