Does anyone how to prn the Irish word sceimhiuil? It means "beautiful" in Gaelic. Could it be related to Selma? A commenter on that name said that Selma is Gaelic for "beautiful view."
Shkev-ool.Alainn is the more usual word for lovely in Irish.I don't think it is related to Selma. MacPherson made a lot of his meanings up AFAIK and was presumably referring to Scots Gaelic.
