Does anyone know the meaning of the name Delsa?
It is my sister's name. My parents found it in a book, the author was Swedish, so I think it might be Swedish in origin. I have always wondered if this name has any meaning. Any help would be very much apreciated. Thanks! :)

Looks like a mix of Disa and ElsaDisa (DEE-sah) is an old Scandinavian name.Even if the author was Swedish, the name could be of another origin, like Italian (as Delia, Delfina). Or the author could have made it up, to give the heroine a real unique name. Or Delsa could be a nn, for Diana Elisabeth etc."You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."
"It does not become me to make myself smaller than I am." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)

It's not Swedish. Elsa is common here, but I've never heard Delsa.Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if only one remembers to turn on the lights
