Kanji Info for Yoko
Hello,
This site lists the Japanese name Yoko meaning "sun child" or "ocean child", using the kanji 'you' to mean "sun" or "ocean" however most other naming sites have 'you' meaning "positive". I know in Japanese a kanji can have various meanings but if some one could please indulge me as to why many sites list it as "positive" and why this site lists it meaning "sun/ocean". I use this site foremost in my name etymology searches as most baby name sites are horribly inaccurate but I can't find a good kanji translator without installing software for the font.
Thanks in advance,
~Silver

The kanji which means "positive" (unfortunately I do not know how to copy it here) also means "sun"; both are correct translations of that kanji. It is also the "yang" of "yin-yang." So it is merely a matter of how that kanji is translated. The meaning "positive" should probably be added to this site. "Ocean" is a different kanji.
