Referring to People
How would you refer to other people in writing and speech? In writing, I prefer to use both the first name and last name of a person I may not know personally, even after the first reference, as I want readers to remember both names of the person they may be unfamiliar with. Some writers online don't even use the first name of the person they are writing about, just the surname.
Most news reporters use the surname of a person only after the first reference, but some still use honorific titles (mister, miss, missus) along with the surname.

I'd try posting this on the opinions board if I were you.
