Re: Ayana / Ayanna

Ayana is a name used in Ethiopia. "Ethiopian", however, is not a language. There are several different ethnic groups and languages in Ethiopia. It probably should be noted that many of the Ethiopian persons named Ayana one can find mentioned on the Worldwide Web are male, not female. For example, Ayana Birru was the name of the man who invented a typewriter for the Amharic language of Ethiopia.
"Beautiful flower" is the interpretation given in a baby name book (one of the first ones published in the USA) about African names back around 1970. I have not been able to establish whether or not that is correct in any language of Ethiopia.
