What does the female name Anoma mean? Does it belong to Sanskrit in any way or just to the local language ? I found this name as Dona Anoma of an East Indian female and just Anoma of a Sri Lankan female.

The Sri Lankan case is probably from Buddhist mythology, though there it is a male name and a river name. It is not Sanskrit, but I guess it may be a corruption of anupama, from an- (cognate with greek a-, means not) + upa (cognate with Germanic ob-, meaning beside, under, etc.) + mA (cognate with and meaning measure) + suffix: that which is without comparison. I have not studied the OIA developments enough to know whether this is the case.
