Hope to shed some light on the meaning of my baptist-ism name Verl? Both of my God Parents had past away when I was young, I was never able ask what it meant or why they had chosen it. Hope someone has a clue of what the name of Verl means! Thanks

VERL is a Southern German pet form of XAVER (Javier) with the initial syllable omitted and the hypocharistic suffix -l added.

I forgot: The name is pronounced almost like "fell".
