I recently came across the name Zenouska (I'm guessing it's a Russian pet name) and would like to know how it is pronounced.
Also, I was reading a book about the Romanov's (the family of Nikolai II, in particular) and I came to a part about the Grand Duchess Anastasia and how her aunt's pet name for her was Malenkaya (I can't remember how it was spelt so forgive me if I've misspelt it.). Can someone tell me, is Malenkaya an actual name or is it just a term of endearment?

Zenouska - from Russian Zhenya (Yevgenia)?
I am not Russian, but I'm *guessing* this might be related to the popular Russian name Zhenya, an unisex nickname for Yevgenia (f.) or Yevgeniy (m.) Russian for Eugenia or Eugene.
A further diminutive of Zhenya might be Zhenyushka (Zhen-yooshka, first syllable stress), which might have been transformed into Zenouska.

Zenouska - well, I don't speak Russian, so I might be totally wrong, but I would guess it's pr. something like ZEN-oosh-kuh.
Malenkaya means "little one", so it's probably not a real Russian name.

actually , my daughters name is zenouska , and it came about because her mother and myself made it up back in 1990 .....

I'm not fluent in Russian or anything, but my grandma speaks Bulgarian and Russian, and it seems to me the accent would be on the second syllable. zen-OOSH-kuh. But I could be wrong.
