Gallienne is a French female name with origins in the Celtic Breton tongue and meaning 'generous lord' in the way that Charlotte from Charles means 'manly'.

Wow thanks! where did you find that?
LOL Had to think for a minute! One of my bizarre fringe French sites...maybe a Catholic one. You hear Gallienne every once in a while but I don't think it's trendy or anything. I'll ask my SIL and try to find the site I'm thinking about - it has obscure feast days, the whole calendar instead of just the 'majors' ;o) I'll post it to you when I find it again!
