Annalise
My sister in law spells her name Annalise and insists this is the Swedish spelling. Is it true or is she just misled? I googled but I couldn't find any information. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi Lindsay,Annalise is used in Sweden but it's a very rare form. It's much more popular in Denmark.http://www.nordicnames.de/flick_e/Elisabet.html/ Satu

No, it's not Swedish. I would guess it's German. The Swedish form is Anna-Lisa.Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if only one remembers to turn on the lights

It's quite possible this form has been used at some time in Sweden, but if so it was probably quite rare at least before 1979, because it does not occur in the Swedish name dictionary I own, Svenska fornamn by Roland Otterbjork, which was copyrighted in 1979. The closest thing to Annalise in that book is Annlis or Ann-Lis.
