I think that the stuff written about Adair should be reconsidered. I am a girl and my middlename is Adair and I try to go by it. It sounds feminine and sweet, not masuline.

I read a book for American History once and the main character was a girl named Adair

It's just your opinion that it sounds feminine and sweet. Adair is historically used on males and the definitions are for factual information.

The fact that it's masculine in the database doesn't mean it's never used on girls, just that it's usually used on boys and the original gender of the name was male.
