where did this name originate from
this was my mothers name. i did not know very much about her. i was a foster child at a young age. she was born in san francisco. her fathers name was john frank alex and my grandmothers name was zinka mrcun, from yugoslavia, but i cannot find out anymore than that. i have not found any sites yet with their name. thank you, debbie

I only found Zinka as a Russian severe or dunning form of Zinaida.

I checked out the link you gave, Minerva, thanks. I'm confused as to how the last form of the names given when using "ka" can be both "affectionate and disrespectful". Could you explain further, or explain in what context you'd use the "ka" version rather than the pet version?
