Anyone know what this means?
Does anyone know what Dashiell means? I've looked around a couple sites (the few that include it) and the meanings are either completly different from each other or say "unknown".
Here's the ones i've heard: "Of Page", "Of Heaven", and that it's the anglicised form of De Chiel (and I have no idea what "De Cheil" means though I know it's French).

As this site says, Dashiell is an Anglicized (or perhaps we should say "Scotticized") form of the French surname De Chiel.
You would have to consult a French surname dictionary to see if there has been any progress on figuring out what the name originally meant. The "of heaven" seems unlikely to me personally, because it seems to come from confusing the French word ciel which means "heaven" with Chiel, and so looks like assuming that "save" and "shave" would mean the same thing in English.

I looked on a few online translators and none of them had "chiel". It apparently means "a young man" in Scottish though
