Annan: legit or not?
An (unreliable) source I came across listed Annan as a "Welsh form of Ann," probably playing off the similarities to Bethan and Megan.
I've done a cursory search and learned it's a burgh and river in Scotland and it appears as a surname in several cultures, such as for Ghanaian-born former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
Does it have any legitimacy as a female first name?
