Nordic name Chrichan (m)
I'm looking for information about the given name of the cellist Chrichan Larson or Larsson (1956-). I don't know if it is a Scandinavian name, a Finnish name, a made-up name...

Hi Lumia,
Chrichan is a - very rare - cre8ive spelling of Christian in Sweden. The "normal" Swedish pronunciation would be KREEST-yahn, but in some Swedish dialects the name Christian (usually spelled Kristian in Sweden) is pronounced KREE-ɧahn. ɧ being a special Swedish fricative sound called "ske-sound". You can listen to it here:
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Swedish_pronunciation
(listen to the example word "sjok").
This sound is usually spelled either sk, sj, stj, or skj, but also sch or ch or ti(on) ... sometimes.
