Pronouciation of Sigrún?
It's Icelandic, and the ú throws me off. I'm losing the idea of how to even pronounce it.

I want to know god's thoughts... the rest are details.-Albert Einstein

The Icelandic pronunciation of Sigrún is SI(Y)-roon:S - as S in 'sun'
I - as I in 'in' (short vowel)
G - almost as Y in 'yes' (very soft)
R - "rolled R" (alveolar trill)
Ú - almost as OO in 'soon' (long vowel)
N - as N in 'no'The stress is on the first syllable (the accent of the Ú does not indicate stress but the length of the vowel)

I don't know if there are any Icelandic-speaking people here, so I'll just say the accent mark above the U is probably just to show where the emphasis is supposed to be. So I'd say seeg-ROON. Where I live we always pronounce is SEEK-ruwn, though.

I'd think the accent more indicates the pronunciation of the U, not the emphasis. Otherwise it'd probably be SEEK-run or seek-RUN. Maybe not though.Anyway, you can hear the German pronunciation here:
http://www.nordicnames.de/Aussprache.html#SI don't know how close that is to the Icelandic one though.

I just looked it up on Wikipedia, and you're right. The ú indicates that the letter is pronounced like the "ou" in English "you", while the Icelandic "u" sounds like the German "ü". It doesn't indicate the emphasis. I just associate accent marks automatically with the emphasis. ;)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icelandic_alphabet

I know I am slow to respond, butDoes that mean it would be pronounced Sea-grune? Or what?

Well, since I'm neither from Iceland nor fluent in Icelandic, I'm not sure. But it is probably something along those lines.
