I was told that the name Tempie came from the Tejas tribe of native Americans. I have learned that in the Basque language it means "summer". Tempie is a fairly familiar name in Texas. I was born 1951 and named after my grandmother, a Texan. My niece Tempie is the first female in Naval history to be awarded the Bronze star with oak leaf clusters. It's a good name and I'd like to know what the original Tejas meaning is. Thank You
