Sybren
in reply to a message by Sybren Simonsen
Hej Sybren,
Sybren is a spelling variant of Sibren, a Frisian form of the Old German names Sigbern (victory + bear) and Sigbrand (victory + sword).
Here's a map of Friesland: http://www.famato.de/frieslandlotse/friesland.gif
Westfriesland belongs to the Netherlands, Ostfriesland belongs to Germany and Nordfriesland to Germany and Denmark.
Regards, Satu

Hey sybren,
I'm sibren, (too)
Satu (nice name by the way, especially if you know what it means)
is totally right.
But i'dd like to add that i somewhere found that sibren means "Victory with/by a flaming/shining sword"
(pretty cool isn't it?)
