Who needs beliefs when you've got facts? However, I once knew a woman whose parents were unable to choose between Lesley and Lynn for her when she was born, so they merged them to form Lynsey. She was extremely grateful, even though she spent half her days spelling it for people.

"what ever you beileve"The name meanings presented at BtN are not "beliefs", they are factual information based on research.I cannot imagine any reason why the etymology of Lynsey would be any different from that of Linsey, Linsay, Lindsay and Lindsey. If you have information that would suggest otherwise, I'm sure someone here would be happy to read it - just provide us with the references and we will do so.:-)

well it is common knowledge in scotland that lynsey is gaelic.
i have met people including my doctor who would agree with this fact.
plus i know im right but you also be correct as man names derive from more than one place.

I'm confused - do you mean that your doctor has made an extensive study of first name etymology? If Lynsey derives from a different source to Lindsay, we'd love to know about it. However, you have to provide some facts before the database entry can be changed. :-)
