Any info on Mainell and Jenton
Hi,My mother has a doozy of a name or names. When she was born the midwife didn't want to file any forms so she named all girl babies JENTON. My mother never knew that until she had to get her birth certificate. During internet searches I found nothing at all on this one. That is the first name I am curious about. The second name is the name she was given by her mother and grew up with. That is the name MAINELL. I have done some searching and all I can come up with is that the name is used both as a first name and a surname.I would appreciate any info on origins or meanings of these two names.Thank you.

Jenton appears to be a French surname from a diminutive of Jean = John

There is an Engish surname Maynell which comes from the Scandinavian woman's name Magnhildr meaning "Strong Warrioress"

What a kinky midwife! Any idea what she named the boys??Could Mainell perhaps be Mae + Nell? Sounds interesting - I 'm guessing it's mae-NELL - right?

Sounded like the midwife was a real pip. She named all the little boys Rooster. Actually, my mother has always pronounced her name as Muh-NELL.
