Laura was the name of the main character in the movie, "Laura"... one of my mother's favorite old movies. The other reason, which I haven't read yet, is that it's also given to baby girls born with red hair! My mother's from the South and it was an old tradition dating back to the early 1900s...oh, I pronounce it LAW-ra and hate to be called Lori...LOh-ra is my nick-name!
