How to pronounce Braonan (accent on the last 'a')
Braonan (from the irish Brennan)
It's an irish name so I looked up the irish pronounciation guide and found that 'ao' is said as the double 'e' in 'tree', and that the accented 'a' is said as the 'a' in 'ago'. So, I think it's pronounced:
BREE-NAN
Any confirmations or corrects would be very welcome!
Thanks alot!

Actually, "ao" in Irish is pronounced somewhere between the German ö and ü, often leading especially to the ü -- which, like the Greek y, is a cross between "oo" and "ee" in English. Due to the tremendous velocity at which most Irishmen speak, it often sounds (as the Greek sound did to the Romans) like an "ee".
Actually, "Braonán" is pronounced [BREEN-awn] in Irish-Gaelic.
'ao' is [ee] as in 'keen'
'á' is [aw] as in 'lawn'
'ao' is [ee] as in 'keen'
'á' is [aw] as in 'lawn'
In Irish, I would pronounce 'ao' as an ay sound and 'á' as an aw sound. I've never heard Braonán before but I would pronounce it something like BRAY-nawn.
