Does anyone know the meaning or origin of this name? It's a female name, the only person I can think of with it was Fania Marinoff, who was born in Odessa. I got a comment that it sounds like a nickname, but I don't know what for.

I think it could be a pet name for Stefania.

It looks like it could be a short form of Feofania (a not so common feminine form of Feofan).
