Very interesting analysis, CKE. The similarity in naming trends, even across cultural boundaries, are striking.
Very interesting article. It's interesting how the junior (and II III IV etc) naming tradition is very popular in America but virtually unheard of over here.
Very interesting article. I know not all American's are like this, the support for Obama is proof enough, but I was really shocked when the news over here showed some less enlightened American views on his name, including the comment from one woman that 'we've had enough trouble with people called Hussein' and others outlining the one letter difference between Obama and Osama. Congrats for trying to redress the balance.
(incidentally a man won a talent contest here with the rather unfortunate name Paul Potts and I never heard a word about it).

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
I wonder if Charles Dickens named Sidney Carton after Algernon Sidney. My mom said originally he was to be named Dick Carton but had his name changed to Sidney before the final publication.

I've seen Algernon Sidney ______s in family trees before, but didn't know the significance of the name.

Interesting; I didn't realize they were both juniors.
