Message: "The name Julana" - Behind the Name

My mother has a very strange name JULANA, born on 26 March 1956. Her father named her after a friend of his who lived in Scotland but that is the only time we have heard of the name. It is not Juliana but Julana and we have no idea of its origin. I would be very gratful if you could help.

It almost certainly has to be a variation on one of Avaleen's recommendations, as more native names don't start with 'J' (or 'I') unless they are borrowed from the continent.
