Looking for the meaning of a friend's surname

My online friend has the surname of Boivin. We think it's French, but we aren't 100%. He was born in Canada, and is of British, French, and Spanish heritage.

Any help would be appreciated.

I looked at the internet and Boivin definitely seems to be French. However, there was no explonation what it means. Maybe you could contact someone who`s name is Boivin or ask help from a person who can speak French or search the word from dictionary.

Umm, bois means drink, and vin means wine. Slur them together and you get Boivin???
