Morfydd may be one of those ancient names whose original meaning is simply unknown. Welsh Personal Names by Heini Gruffudd says Morfudd was the "daughter of Urien Rheged, according to Culbwch ac Olwen. One of the loves of Dafydd ap Gwilym, 14th century." Since he gives no information beyond that, it seems the Morfudd or Morfydd is a name found in ancient Welsh legend, but beyond that there is no accepted etymology.

I don't know the meaning of the name. But I can tell you that in Welsh "f's" are pronounced like "v's" and double "d's" are pronounced like "f's."
Morfydd = "MOR-vith"
Oh, and in Irish Gaelic, "mor" means great or big. I don't know if that's true in Welsh Gaelic as well, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were.
