ArchivesMeaning of Arienwen?
Its not listed in the Welsh names list on this site and I was wondering about the meaning. I did a search but all I found was some very old genealogy records and some rather bad fantasy stories LOL!

Arienwen means "fair silver, blessed silver"

It could be Tolkien's elvish: 'Arien' was the Maia spirit who carried the sun on her back, and 'wen' is Sindarin, meaning 'maiden'. 'Arien' means something along the lines of 'noblewoman'. Still, it's not really elvish-sounding: too many syllables for Sindarin and a generally weird combination. Just a thought.
