origin
Want to know the origin of Katelyn.

I consider Katelyn more a blend of Kate (from Katherine) and Lyn.
It is definitely inspired by the American pronunciation of Caitlin, that's for sure, but Caitlin is pronounced completely differently in Ireland so I would hesitate to call it the same name as Katelyn.
Either way, Caitlin is the Irish form of Katherine, so Katelyn can definitely be said to derive from Katherine. Katherine has traditionally thought to mean "pure" (although that's now disputed), and Lyn apparently comes from a Welsh word for "lake". So you could think of Katelyn as "pure lake".
I think Katelyn's a very pretty name, btw!
