Re: Why do names have meanings?

Names are just like words. All words have meanings. And since most names have been past down from centuries ago and from ancient languages the meanings are less and less meaningful.
Back in the day, names were used to describe physical attributes or characteristics, professions or locations of where you or your family resided. Sometimes people still use words like this to name their children, but it is becoming less and less important.
