Hi Violet,
Sirpa is a new name in Finland. It derives from the word "sirpala" which means "small piece, bit". Probably the first person to use it was the Finnish actress Sirpa Tolonen (born in 1900). Her real first name was Siiri (Finnish variant of Sigrid, Old Norse name meaning "victory" + "beauty"). So Sirpa could be seen as a pet form for Siiri as well.
Variants of Sirpa are Sirpana, Sippa and Sirppa.
