Origin and meaning of name
I have searched all over and so far, no luck. Help! My parents are Polish but it is mispronounced in English and took me many years to feel comfortable with it. Someone said it was 'Dorothy' in English - certainly don't feel like a doroty...I am definitely a Bozena. KNow that first part means 'God' (in Polish) but...help! thank you. B.

Hi Bozena,Bozena is a Czech (maybe also a Polish?) pet form of Slavic names beginning with Bog- like e.g.:Bogdana - "god" + "gift, present"
Bogumila - "god" + "favour"
Boguslawa/Boguslava - "god" + "glory"Regards,
Satu

Or...merely from the adjective "bozen/bozhen" - belonging to/referring to god
