I have searched all over and so far, no luck. Help! My parents are Polish but it is mispronounced in English and took me many years to feel comfortable with it. Someone said it was 'Dorothy' in English - certainly don't feel like a doroty...I am definitely a Bozena. KNow that first part means 'God' (in Polish) but...help! thank you. B.

Hello there, my mother in law's name is Bozena, a beautiful name, she is czech born and believes it holds both meanings godly & elizabeth.

I inherited the name from my great grandmother. It is chezchsolvatian for Elizabeth.

Hi Bozena,

Bozena is a Czech (maybe also a Polish?) pet form of Slavic names beginning with Bog- like e.g.:

Bogdana - "god" + "gift, present"
Bogumila - "god" + "favour"
Boguslawa/Boguslava - "god" + "glory"

merely from the adjective "bozen/bozhen" - belonging to/referring to god
