Alfino is an Italian name, generally occurring as a surname. (It's feminine-suffixed counterpart, Alfina, is however used as a first name --for a woman.) It's etymology may be akin to the Portugese word "alfinete" meaning 'needle'. The Italian surname Alvino might be a variant.
