usage of the name Joachim
On different name boards I noticed people talking about the names Joaquin or Joaquim. I did wonder what the proper English version of the name is. It seems like it is Joachim. I did never hear of it. Was the name ever used much in either England, the US or anywhere else?

Joachim is a fairly common name in Germany as well.
Joachim/Joakim is quite common in Sweden and it was popular in the '80s.
It's not very common. I know a caucasian guy who's about 20 named Joachim, and he's the only person I've ever met with that name. Joaquin might be more common in hispanic countries, but I'm not sure.
it's used a lot in Germany (it's horribly old fashioned imho), just check in the list here
Oh. I suppose I should have specified where it's not common. I meant just where I lived. :)
