the meaning of the hawaiin name Kiany. She's a little girl who needs to have a project in class and it's coming up. But she's in fifth grade and hurt that there's no meaning. Please help me.

The letter "y" does not exist in the Hawaiian language. I would agree that without further information the best guess is that this child's parents modified the well-known Hawaiian name Kiana to create Kiany. But since most native Hawaiian names are created from words in the Hawaiian language, there is an outside chance that they created it from the word "kiani". The definition of that word from a Hawaiian online dictionary is found below:
