Happy Saint Paddy's Day, Y'all!

We're Back to Blue, But...
...it's never too late for a dumb Irish joke. Heard this one on the radio on the way to work Sat. AM in a crappy mood (because it was my day off, but duty called). Despite myself, I laughed out loud.
An Irishman goes into a bar and says "Quick! Give me 5 bottles of Guinness, 5 pints of Jameson, and 5 glasses of brandy."
The bartender raises his eyebrows, but complies. The Irishman snatches up the drinks and downs all of them in the space of 20 seconds.
The bartender is astounded: "I've never seen anyone drink so fast!"
The Irishman says, "You'd drink this fast too if you had what I have."
"And what's that?", asks the barkeep.
"A dollar".

Here's another I saw while I was out of town:
The origins of the Irish Jig: too many Guinesses and too few bathrooms.

Looks like lavender on my screen...
...with blue topic headings, until they've been clicked on, then they're a lovely shade of red-violet. And the Gothic "Behind the Name" page title is a bright blue-violet. Very nice palette choices Mike C. has made. :)
And, speaking of ethnic matters... Something I've always wondered about... If Jesus was Jewish, how come he had a Mexican name? :)

Tsk tsk. So YOU'RE the one they sold that cheap monitor to! I'll bet you even thought you saw letters and numbers in those little colored dot-pictures in Health class.
Actually, Jesus had a Mexican name so he could find work as a carpenter. Out here in the hinterlands beyond the Hudson, ALL framing carpenters are Mexican. If they still built houses in LI, you'd know that, Nan.
Something I'VE always wondered about: if Jesus was Jewish and he knew his impending fate (both points I'll accept), why did he have the JEWS bring about his betrayal so that the Christians would hate 'em and generally kick their kosher heinies for the next 2,000 years?
Why not have yourself betrayed by the Palestinians or the North Koreans or the French? Hardly anyone likes THEM, and then we could ALL have kicked heinie guilt-free for as long as we liked... :)

@@@@ I posed that question to John, who happens to be a Christian (and was actually a student of theology for a brief period during his college years), and John says that all this had been predicted in the Book of Isaiah and had to come to pass in order for Jesus to be the Messiah. Of course, my own tribe is still waiting for the Messiah to arrive, so there is some debate in our household as to whether or not the predictions of Isaiah have been truly fulfilled. :)

Behind Antisemitism
Wass behind "Antisemitism"?
"I'm nastiest I'm" : which also happens to be a palindrome
"Tiniest, maims" : It hurts people, even in small doses
"Testis minima" and "Maim in testis" : antisemites lack balls!
"Mate in & miss it" and "Miss Intimate": when one gets to know and love a Jew, it disappears.

...you forgot to mention the miserable fat Belgian bastards...
The thought had crossed my mind but I didn't want to come across as negative. :)
To infiltrate hispanic antisemites?

I think you might want to try http://members.busynet.net/0557. I'm a member of the particular branch of the organization. One of the founding fathers of this branch is one of my professors.
Besides, I've been studying various Irish related subjects since 1997 (and my favorite philosophy professor is Irish, too.) We'll discuss Irishizing me some other time, okay?
Phyllis
PS John Gleeson also calls me Sidhe Uaine (my name in Gaelige).

Seeing as how P.L. started this, now you need an anagrammed Irish name, too, Daividh:
"Irish Val Hillard MacGlad"
-- Lacee (as in "Irish Lace") Leeanna Harp (as in the lager)

"Irish Val Hillard" has a turn-of-the-century lower Manhattan mobster ring to it. Very nice.
Even more suited to you...

Happy Saint Paddy's Day
Green Is The Colour.
Heavy hung the canopy of blue
Shade my eyes and I can see you
White is the light that shines through the dress that you wore
She lay in the shadow of a wave
Hazy were the visions overplayed
Sunlight in her eyes, but moonshine made her cry every time
Green is the colour of her kind
Quickness of the eye deceives the mind
Envy is the bond between the hopeful and the damned
Pink Floyd

Whoa.... The Chief Leprechaun Mike C. has struck!
Am I seein' green, or WHAT? :)
The relatives from across the Pond arrived safely, and we settled them in. I fed 'em home-made shu mai and now they're watching our DVD of *Pitch Black*, so I thought I'd steal a few moments to join the St. Paddy's Day Party here. :) Tomorrow we hit all the sights in Manhattan. They want to go up the Empire State Building (of coooooourse), which means that John and I will probably have a brew in Hoolihan's on the ground level while we wait for them to come back down to earth.
Nice to see Liberty made it back, and was posting earlier. (HI, LIBERTY!) Where's the rest of the gang? Has Priapos gone to the mountains again? I'm sure our Chief Leprechaun must be lurking somewhere. (NICE BIT OF HOLIDAY DECORATING THERE, MIKE!)
Gotta get back to our company now. Catch y'all later! :)
