Archives"Delaphan"
"Delephan" appears as the name of a distant cousin on several US census records ca. 1870-1880. Delaphan is listed as the son of two Irish Immigrants. I find no reference to the name Delaphan anywhere else and on future census records this male individual is shown as "Charles". Any help out there on the origin of "Delaphan"?

...suggests that the name is an Irish surname. It's got to be pretty rare though - I've never come across it in books. It looks and sounds more French. I suggest you try a listing of place names in France, Ireland and the UK.
