This name seems to be a surname with many forms like Corlis, Corless, Corles, Corlies, Corlys, Corlesh. It may be an Irish name and be connects with Carless, Carles etc. possibly Charles.

I've seen it. It's listed in my pretty inaccurate baby name book as a unisex name meaning "benevolent, cheery" in Old English. But I wouldn't take that as gospel. Anyone have a better explanation?
