Female Name
I've never been able to find the meaning and origin of the name Corliss.
I saw someone on TV by that name (a real person) recently. There used to be a radio show (40s-50s) about a teenaged girl named Corliss Archer.

I've seen it. It's listed in my pretty inaccurate baby name book as a unisex name meaning "benevolent, cheery" in Old English. But I wouldn't take that as gospel. Anyone have a better explanation?
