This is a ancestoral surname, anyone know about it, meanings and such?

I suppose I should ask you to go to the surnames board for this -- but since I have my Hanks & Hodges Dictionary of Surnames handy, I can tell you that Lawlor is an Irish surname, an Anglicized form of O Leathlobhair, based on the personal name Leathlobar, comprised of the words leath, "half" and lobar, "sick". This may have originally been a nickname for someone with an unhealthy look about him.

Thanks, I'll remember to go to the other board next time, sorry I'm a newbie on this site!
