I just met a guy (one of the local regulars here at the university library). He said his name, and at first I thought he said Asa. But then he spelled it and it sounded like he put an H in there, like Asha. He also could have said it that way. I couldn't tell.
Is there a name out there pronounced AY-sha?
Either way it fits him. He seriously looks like a very old hippie. He has a big white beard and always wears a red bandana. It's pretty awesome.

Could he be using a rather different pronunciation of the biblical Asher? It certainly sounds more cheerful!
There is a male name Asha. I once read that name on a book. It was a novel about a son of a king. The son was named Asha. No more info on that.
