Is this name made up?
I knew a girl once named Muneit, pronounced either "moon-EET" or "MOON-ee" (although I'm not sure if one was a mispronunciation or a nickname). I really like the name, though I probably wouldn't give it to any of my kids, but I was wondering where it came from. I couldn't find it on this database. It's probably made up, but I was just wondering if anyone happened to know.

What was this girl's ethnic background? It looks to me like her parents may have been trying to Anglicize Muadhnait, an old Irish Gaelic name pronounced something like "moo-ah-nit" which is derived from the word "muad" meaning "noble, good." According to O Corrain and Maguire's _Irish Names_, there was an Irish virgin saint of this name.
Could it be some sort of weird creative attempt at the last name Monet?
