In the book Ballet Shoes there is a character called Petrova, and apparently it is Russian. Does any one know any more about it? Or was it just made up for the purpose of the story?

Petrova is a popular Russian (feminine) surname - like Ivanova, Pavlova, or Feodorovna. They're all based on common first names, like Ivan, Vasily, Fedor, Petr, Pavel...
