Variants of the name Virginia
Does anyone know if there are any variants of the name Virginia used in Eastern European countries?
My dad's biological mom was said to be named Virginia but they are from somewhere in Eastern Europe (not really sure where, they used fake i.ds to come to U.S.) and it might help in locating them if there are alternative spellings.
My dad's name was originaly Wolf if that helps.
Thanks.

Slownik imion, a Polish book that gives equivalents of common names in 18 different European languages, gives "Virginija" as the form of Virginia used in Belorussuian, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovenian, and Ukrainian. Wirginia is the spelling used in Polish. The form Virginie is given for Czech, and Virginia for Romanian.

According to this site, Virginia is also a Romanian name, so maybe it was your Grandmother's original name.
