Re: Does anyone know the meaning of 'Jelena' ?
in reply to a message by Jelena
Hi, Jelena! I happen to have a dear friend named Jelena, and it's not a common name. It is, however, cited in a book titled: *The New Age Baby Name Book* by Sue Browder -- the only place where I've actually been able to find that name. Here's what it says:
JELENA (yay-LAY-nah or juh-LAY-nuh). Popular Russian form of Helen, "light" or "a torch". See Helen.
My friend, by the way, pronounces her name: jeh-LEE-nah. How do you pronounce yours?
-- Nanaea
P.S. And if this is you, Jelena T., I'm gonna smack ya upside the head! LOL!
