The true origin of "Lynval"
My name is Lynval. I am in my early 40's and my mother told me how I got my name. I was brought up with the impression that the name "Lynval" was a British name. However, to my surprise, I was told about four years ago that by a gentleman from Sweden that the name "Lynval" was Swedish. I just checked the Swedish section for my name but it was not there. I was born and raised in the British Caribbean. I am now doing a study of first names in College. Can you help me?

Hi Lynval,
There is noone in Sweden with that name, so I would guess it is either not Swedish or it is an anglicized version of a Swedish name.
In Sweden there is a surname "Lindvall" which sounds similar and which means "linden-tree" + "meadow, pasture", which is not used as a first name in Sweden.
