I work with a Vera and that's how she says it. There was also a character named Vera on the television series "Cheers" and that's how it was pronounced on the show as well.

ETA: If you click on Vera it lists multiple acceptable pronunciations for it.

I agree with Lauren.

However if you go to the page with information on Vera it says that both pronunciation's are correct.

Yes. It is at least the British pronunciation (read more)

VEER-ah (rhynimg with beer or ear) is the only way I've ever heard the name pronounced, and I've come across it a fair few times, namely Vera Lynn and elderly family members. Please see this video:
