dittoI work with a Vera and that's how she says it. There was also a character named Vera on the television series "Cheers" and that's how it was pronounced on the show as well.ETA: If you click on Vera it lists multiple acceptable pronunciations for it.

I agree with Lauren.However if you go to the page with information on Vera it says that both pronunciation's are correct.

Yes. It is at least the British pronunciation (read more)VEER-ah (rhynimg with beer or ear) is the only way I've ever heard the name pronounced, and I've come across it a fair few times, namely Vera Lynn and elderly family members.
