Hilton
Any other info? And no, nothing to do with the hotel chain....
Hilton
English, masculine
Etymology unknown. Perhaps from the ship, The Hilton, which sailed during the 1800s to Australia from England taking free settlers from Cornwall and surrounding areas.

It probably means "settlement on a hill".
you're exactly right.
If you did morphemes or studied a foreign language in High School, you'll find out that they help alot with figuring out the meaning of names. I did it backwards- I've been into names since I was 9, and am now studying greek and latin morphemes and French. "hil" would translate to the obvious "hill". "ton" will always mean "Town", if it's an english name like this one is. hope that helps!
